Our story

Little Wild Tribe began with a shared dream: to give children the kind of wild childhood that seems increasingly rare: climbing trees, building dens, foraging, exploring, and discovering the world with joy, freedom and wonder.

Founded by two mothers, it grew from their desire for childhoods rich with mud, laughter, curiosity and connection, where creativity flourishes, learning grows through experience, and memories are made to last.

They felt the absence of these kinds of experiences within their local community for their own children, and so began to imagine something wildly different: a place where the earliest years could be lived more meaningfully, shaped by nature, belonging and adventure.

Both experienced teachers with a commitment to evidence-informed education, they turned to the Scandinavian model of forest kindergartens for inspiration. Qualifying as Forest School Leaders deepened their resolve: to create a nurturing, science-rich, nature-immersed environment for families who believe childhood can be extraordinary.

And so, Little Wild Tribe was born.

Our approach

Learning begins with belonging

At Little Wild Tribe, everything we do is shaped by three guiding principles: nature, neuroscience, and nurture. Together, they create a powerful framework that redefines what early years education can, and should be.

We believe that children thrive when they are emotionally secure, deeply connected, and meaningfully engaged with the people and natural world around them. Each child is held in warm, responsive relationships with trusted adults who know them deeply.

We honour each child’s pace, temperament and story, adapting care routines, transitions, and provocations to meet their individual needs. Our youngest children experience predictable, attuned care that supports emotional safety and brain development, while older children are invited into exploratory, inquiry-rich experiences that foster confidence, collaboration and curiosity.

At Little Wild Tribe, we believe that learning begins with belonging and we adopt a people-first approach to all that we do. We understand that children learn best when they feel safe in their nervous systems, connected in relationship, and free to move, explore and belong. These guiding principles shape every aspect of what we do, from our environment, our relationships, and our curriculum, to make Little Wild Tribe a truly unique and life-affirming place to grow.

Nature: a sanctuary for science and soul

Our outdoor, all-weather environment provides endless opportunities for exploration, challenge, and wonder; from den-building in the woods to sensory play in the mud kitchen. But this goes far beyond just 'learning outside.' Here, nature is woven into every experience to become the curriculum itself, shaping focus, perseverance, curiosity and awe.

Our bespoke Little Wild Curriculum™, blends child-led discovery with intentional adult-led provocations. It evolves with the seasons, the environment, and the children themselves, offering a layered and responsive approach to learning.

From tracking animal prints in the woodland and exploring different cultures and traditions, to collaborative storytelling and classical art, our science-rich, experiential curriculum is both dynamic and deeply rooted in what matters most to each child. Along the way, children build confidence, resilience and real-world skills they need to thrive.

Education with integrity

Our team is made up of highly-qualified educators and multidisciplinary specialists who apply the latest evidence-informed research in child development and neuroscience. At Little Wild Tribe, we don’t do things simply because that’s the way they’ve always been done. Instead, we ask questions, reflect, and continually evolve our practice in line with the latest educational evidence.

From secure attachments and co-regulation to sensory integration and executive function, the latest understanding of neurodevelopmental education is embedded into daily practice. This supports every child, from our youngest babies to our pre-schoolers, to develop the emotional literacy and self-awareness they need to flourish. But great education is about more than what children learn. It’s also about the relationships, culture and community that surround them.

What truly makes Little Wild Tribe stand out is the integrity of the whole experience. Every decision we make considers the child, the family and the educator, because we know children thrive when the people around them thrive too.
